Museum to mark 50th anniversary

Author talk, book-signing planned
ROCKY MOUNT — Sanda Baucom Hight, contributing columnist for The Wilson Times, will discuss her new book, “Charms of Home, School and Country Life,” at the Braswell Memorial Library’s computer lab, 727 N. Grace St., from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.

Duck-Rabbit holding craft beer release party
FARMVILLE — The Duck-Rabbit Craft Brewery, 4519 W. Pine St., will host a party to celebrate the release of the 2018 Duck-Rabbit Baltic porter from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 8.
This party on the brewery grounds is open to the public with no cover charge. The dark beer specialist will serve an assortment of beers from the taproom, while Mari’s Hella Fat Food Truck will serve food and music will be provided by William Seymour. Christmas scholarship ball slated Dec. 22
The Williamson-Springfield Alumni Association’s annual scholarship ball, Christmas with the Wildcats, will be held at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at Wedgewood Country Club on Stantonsburg Road. Admission $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The dress is semi-formal.

SHARPSBURG — The Sharpsburg Board of Commissioners has canceled its meeting originally scheduled for Tuesday, Dec. 4. The board will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 8, at Town Hall, 110 W. Railroad St.
