Grief support meeting planned

The Women’s Pavilion at Wilson Medical Center’s grief support group will meet at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, Jan. 14, in the Wells Fargo conference room. The group for anyone who has experienced pregnancy or infant loss meets on the second Tuesday of each month. January’s topic is “Facing the New Year.” For more information, call 252-399-8236.

Breastfeeding class scheduled

Wilson Medical Center’s free class to help expectant mothers learn about the importance of breastfeeding is planned for 6 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16, in the hospital auditorium. To register or for more information, contact the lactation support team at 252-399-8887 or lactation@wilmed.org.

Library boosters plan meeting

The Friends of the Wilson County Public Library group will hold its annual meeting at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 16. The public is invited to this free event featuring guest speaker Susan Kellum, the city of Wilson’s downtown marketing and communications coordinator. Light refreshments will be served.

Fike band plans dance-a-thon

The Fike High School band will have a dance-a-thon from 10 - 11:30 a.m. Saturday, Jan. 25 in the Fike High School cafeteria, 500 Harrison Drive. The $20 entry fee includes registration, water and raffle entry. There’s a $5 discount for Wilson County Schools teachers and students with ID. Registration begins at 9:15 a.m. All profits will help the Fike High School band purchase new instruments.

Bridge club announces results

Wilson Duplicate Club results for Jan. 7, North/South, are Judy and Sim Wooten, first; Sharon and Bob Foster, second; and Martha Walston and Louise Watson, third. East/West results are Mable Hesmer and Janet Gresham, first; Jerry Woodard and Norma Scalf, second; and Carolyn Harmon and Phyllis Winstead, third.

Results for Jan. 9, North/South, are Sally Barnes and Frank Eagles, first; Judy and Sim Wooten, second; Lynda Land and Jerry Woodard, third; and Carolyn Harmon and Beverly Wells, fourth. East/West results are Holmes Smoot and Agnes Cherry, first; Betty Jon Smith and Katie Covington, second; Martha Walston and Janet Gresham, third; and Anne and Bill Highsmith, fourth.
