DAR to ring in Constitution Day

The Daughters of the American Revolution’s Thomas Hadley Chapter will mark Constitution Day with a bell-ringing ceremony at 4 p.m. Monday, Sept. 17 at the Wilson County Courthouse. Bells will ring at 4 p.m. throughout the nation to mark the 231st anniversary of the Constitution’s signing.

Bible school classes begin Monday

School board meeting postponed

The Wilson County Board of Education has postponed its regular monthly meeting, which had been scheduled for Monday, Sept. 17. The meeting will be rescheduled for later this month and a date and time will be announced, according to Wilson County Schools spokeswoman Amber Lynch.

Board of Adjustment meeting canceled

The Wilson Board of Adjustment has canceled its September monthly meeting, which was slated for Tuesday, Sept. 18. The board will hold its next meeting at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 16. For questions, call 252-399-2218.

Farmer-Butterfield to address school retirees

The Wilson County Retired School Personnel will meet at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 19 at the Wilson County Public Library, 249 Nash St. State Rep. Jean Farmer-Butterfield, D-Wilson, will serve as guest speaker.

Crime prevention panels to meet

ROCKY MOUNT — The Edgecombe and Nash County Juvenile Crime Prevention Councils will meet at 9 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 20 at the East Carolina Ag and Education Center. Meetings are open to the public.

Seniors’ club plans anniversary banquet

The Loyal Leisure Club will celebrate its 45th anniversary with a banquet from 3-7 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 6 at the Wedgewood Golf Course clubhouse, 3210 Old Stantonsburg Road.
