The Wilson AARP chapter will celebrate Christmas at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 13 at the Something Different restaurant on Airport Boulevard. Each person attending is asked to bring a small gift to exchange. Food donations will be collected for the Salvation Army. Everyone who is age-eligible for AARP is invited to attend.

Winstead Elementary collecting blankets

Second-grade classes at Winstead Elementary School, 1713 Downing St. SW, are collecting winter blankets to donate to Wilson County shelters through Friday, Dec. 14. Blankets can be dropped off during school hours.

Saratoga tree-lighting set Saturday

SARATOGA — The town of Saratoga will hold its community Christmas tree-lighting at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 15 at Saratoga Original Free Will Baptist Church at the intersection of North Rogers Street and Church Street with caroling, hot chocolate and cookies. Church to hold Christmas celebration

Jackson Chapel First Missionary Baptist Church will hold its annual Christmas celebration at 6 p.m. Friday, Dec. 21 at the Something Different restaurant. The cost is $25 for adults and $10 for children 12 and under.

Country club hosting scholarship ball

The Williamson-Springfield Alumni Association’s annual scholarship ball, Christmas with the Wildcats, will be held at 9 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 22 at Wedgewood Country Club on Stantonsburg Road. Admission $15 in advance or $20 at the door. The dress is semi-formal.

Parade planned on Christmas Day
