Church plans fish fry plate sale

Music for Hope concert scheduled
The Music for Hope concert will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 24 in the sanctuary of First Christian Church, 207 Tarboro St. N. A silent auction will begin at 5 p.m. prior to the concert in the fellowship hall with refreshments served. Dessert will follow the concert and winners can pick up silent auction items at this time. Admission to both events is free.
Gospel concert planned Aug. 25
As part of the Summer Sounds Benefit Concert Series, the Arts Council of Wilson will present the Praise Gospel Singers with special guest Bill Myers at 8 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25 at the Edna Boykin Cultural Center. Tickets are $20 each at the door and can purchased in advance by visiting the Boykin Center box office from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays through Fridays or by calling 252-291-4329. All proceeds will go toward upgrading the Boykin Center’s sound system.
Church hosting spaghetti fundraiser
SARATOGA — Saratoga Original Free Will Baptist Church, 6801 N.C. 222 E., will have a spaghetti dinner fundraiser for Bella Duff 5 - 7 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 25. Duff has been diagnosed with small-fiber neuropathy and needs to be treated at Johns Hopkins Children’s Hospital in Florida. The spaghetti dinner will assist the family with medical expenses. Barbecue plate sale fundraiser planned
ELM CITY — Refuge Trinity Holiness Church, 6108 Justin Trail, will have a barbecue plate sale from noon to 6:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 7. Plates will include pork barbecue, slaw, two vegetables, roll and dessert for $8 each. All proceeds will go to support the Rev. Sonny Griswold and his wife Hope on a mission trip to Africa.
