Cancer fundraiser begins this morning
The Guardians of the Cross organization will have its 14th annual cancer fundraiser at 8:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 21 at Bill’s Convention Center. Money raised goes to help cancer patients. The event includes a cake walk, games, bike ride and raffle.
‘Shades of Pink’ brunch is today
The “Shades of Pink” breast cancer awareness brunch will be held from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 21, at White Oak Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5259 U.S. 264 Alternate East. Guests include family nurse practitioner Sharon Mitchell, health educator Jessica Williams and registered nurse Rita Batts.
Breast cancer program set for today
The women’s fellowship of St. Rose Church of Christ, Disciples of Christ, will host a breast cancer awareness program from 10 a.m. to noon Saturday, Oct. 21 at 605 S. Douglas St.
Guest speakers will be Lisa Skinner of Wilson Medical Center, Brenda R. Dew of Contending for the Faith Ministries and Helen Harwood of Regional Medical Oncology. Breakfast will be served and door prizes, free literature and information will be given.
Seniors to have fall festival
The Loyal Leisure Senior Club’s annual fall festival is 10 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24 at Reid Street Community Center. The free event will include a fashion show, singing, poetry, arts and crafts display and refreshments.
Clothing giveaway scheduled
Total Impact Outreach Ministries will hold a Community Appreciation Day from 11 a.m. - 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 with free clothing, free lunch served at noon and praise and worship at 300 S. Pender St. For more information, contact Johnnie Chestnut at 252-292-7951.
Community health fair slated
Wilson Chapel Church will host a community health fair and health and wellness expo from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 28 at its 513 E. Barnes St. youth center.
The event includes free blood pressure checks, information on diabetes, high blood pressure, congestive heart failure and anxiety from registered nurses Jessica Wilson and Tiara Wiley-King along with aerobics, counseling and raffles and refreshments.
Church to host fall festival
BAILEY — Bailey Baptist Church, 6646 Deans St., will host a free-admission fall festival from 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31.
Attendees can pick their own pumpkins from the pumpkin patch and the event will feature games with prizes, mini-hayrides, a gospel message, funnel cakes and a Yam Jam with free sweet potatoes. For more information, contact youth director Matt Roman at 252-292-7380.
Clergy invited to ministers’ meeting
The Wilson County Ministers Association will hold its monthly meeting at 12:15 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2 in the Wells Fargo Conference Room of Wilson Medical Center. All area ministers are invited to attend.
Church plans Harvest Day event
SARATOGA — Saratoga Original Free Will Baptist Church will hold its annual Harvest Day on Nov. 4 in the church’s Yates Family Life Center.

Farm bureau sets annual meeting
The Wilson County Farm Bureau will hold its annual meeting at 7:30 pm on Monday, Nov. 6 at the Farm Bureau office located at 2853 Wooten Blvd. SW. All members are encouraged to attend. Refreshments will be served and door prizes will be given.
Silent art auction scheduled
Pennies From Angels will have a silent art auction sale featuring local artists at the Wilson Praise and Worship gym, 202 Nash St., from 5;30-8:30 p.m. on Friday, Nov. 10.

Veterans Day concert planned
Gordon Mote will perform a Veterans Day concert at 6 p.m. Saturday, Nov. 11 at Shiloh Pentecostal Holiness Church, 5854 Shiloh Church Road.
