DURHAM — The Wilson Christian varsity boys basketball team got off to a slow start and never recovered Monday in a 63-36 loss at Durham Fellowship Baptist.

Wilson Christian (9-9), which was led by the 13 points of junior Zach Hunter, shot just 27 percent from the floor against a tenacious man-to-man defense in trailing 31-22 at the half. It didn’t get much better for the Chargers in the second half, as WCA slogged to a 51-32 deficit entering the fourth quarter.

Fellowship Baptist finished 9 for 18 from behind the 3-point line and shot 43 percent from the field. Junior Jimmy Forte had 12 points and nine rebounds for WCA.

The Chargers return to North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A East Region play Monday at home against Kinston Bethel Christian.
