After a serious injury to a Kinston Bethel Christian player created a lengthy delay in the fourth quarter of Tuesday’s varsity boys basketball game at Wilson Christian, the Trojans held the Chargers scoreless the rest of the way in a 54-40 win.
Wilson Christian, which trailed by just two points at the end of the third quarter, was down four with about 3 1/2 minutes left. The Trojans scored the game’s final 10 points, including six after one of their teammates had to leave with leg and shoulder injuries after a fall.
The Chargers dipped to 9-10 overall and saw their North Carolina Christian School Association 2-A East Region mark evened at 2-2.
Zach Hunter led Wilson Christian with 14 points while Jimmy Forte had nine points and nine rebounds. Michael Fulcher and Josh Sutton each scored 13 points for the Trojans.
Wilson Christian will host Faith Christian of Goldsboro on Friday as the Chargers observe homecoming, weather permitting.
