PIKEVILLE — The Charles B. Aycock High wrestling team lifted the curtain on a new season Tuesday night by splitting a pair of matches with Princeton and Corinth Holders.

The Golden Falcons dispensed with Princeton 54-24 and were handed a 60-24 defeat by 4-A Corinth Holders.

Four CBA wrestlers went 2-0, with seniors Austin Doyle at 106 pounds and Zach Creel at 145 leading the way. Devin Maldonado, a junior, went 2-0 at 120 as did sophomore Canon Barrett at 113.

“The Littles did their job tonight,” CBA coach Brian Doyle said of the Falcons’ lowest three weight classes. “Overall, we did some good things, but there is plenty we need to tighten up before Saturday.”

CBA will be at the Fike Demon Duals on Saturday, an event where the Falcons finished fourth last season.
