BLACKSBURG, Va. — The Barton College men’s tennis team offered stout opposition at No. 1 doubles and No. 5 singles in dropping a 9-0 nonconference decision to Bluefield State College on Wednesday.

The Bulldogs dropped to 1-5 against an experienced Bluefield squad that improved to 3-4 with its second consecutive win.

At No. 1 doubles, Barton’s Rory Gaydon-Oscar Marmestedt dropped a 9-7 decision to the Big Blues’ Alex Rudenco-Luke Busse.

At No. 5 singles, Barton’s Alessandro Gerbino was turned back 6-3, 7-6 (5) by Bluefield’s Tom Schmieta.

The Bulldogs launch a three-match homestand against Mercyhurst University at 2 p.m. Thursday.
