SPRING HOPE — Get ready to get your tailgate on, southern Nash County — a major Bojangles’ franchisee in eastern North Carolina and Virginia has submitted plans for construction at its Spring Hope property to the town for approval.
After years of rumors and whispers of the famed Cajun eatery coming to the intersection of N.C. Highway 581 and U.S. 64 in Spring Hope, Bojangles franchisee Tands Inc. of Kinston has submitted the plans for the new location at that intersection to Spring Hope Town Manager Jae Kim.
“The company has submitted their plans for their new location on 581 at 64,” Kim confirmed on Sunday. “After the plans are reviewed by town staff, they will go before the planning board and then to the Board of Commissioners for final approval.”
Area residents have been talking about the possibility of a Bojangles’ since 2007 when the owners of Tands purchased the 75-acre tract that adjoins the westbound access ramp to U.S. 64, but discussion died down during the recession.
Speculation about the possibility of the restaurant began buzzing around the area again when the company had a large portion of the property cleared of timber last year.
Bojangles’ began in 1977 and Tands Inc. joined the Bojangles’ team as a franchisee in 1980. Tands currently operates more than 60 Bojangles’ restaurants, including those in Nashville. Rocky Mount and Wilson.
