The proposed 2020-21 traditional school calendar is on the agenda at Monday’s Wilson County Board of Education meeting.

Other action items include an agreement between Wilson County Schools and Vidant Medical Center to place student interns from the WCS health occupations program at Vidant.

The board will also decide on a number of personnel changes in closed session.

Informational items the board will discuss include Her PRIDE 2019-20, the female version of the Gentlemen’s Agreement whose name stands for positivity, respect, intelligence, determination and excellence, the Girls in Mathematics and Science STEM program; third grade reading, fourth and fifth grade reading, fourth through eighth grade math Advanced Placement and International Baccalaureate classes; and career and technical education teacher bonuses.

The board will also be taking up 14 draft policies on second reading. They include child abuse, human trafficking and related threats to child safety–reporting, investigations and training; other employees and bus drivers; recruitment and selection of personnel; licensure; drug-free and alcohol-free workplace; occupational exposure to bloodborne pathogens; occupational exposure to hazardous chemicals in science laboratories; superintendent evaluation; evaluation of licensed employees; plans for growth and improvement of licensed employees; evaluation of non-licensed employees; personnel files; professional employees: demotion and dismissal; and classified personnel: suspension and dismissal.

The board meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. at the Wilson County Schools central office at 113 Tarboro St. NE.
