EMERALD ISLE — Betty Cummings Edwards, 81, passed away Friday, March 17, 2017. A memorial service will be held at 6 p.m. Monday at Macclesfield Christian Church with Pastor Melissa Acres officiating. Family will receive friends Monday from 4:30-6 p.m. at the church and other times at the Cummings family home place, 418 Corbett Farm Road, Macclesfield. Bet was born in Edgecombe County to Henry Vann and Mary Edwards Cummings. She was preceded in death by her husband, John Philip Edwards. She retired from Edgecombe County Schools as an educator after 30 years of service. She is survived by her loving family, including daughters, Susan Elizabeth Morgan, Greenville; Melissa Morgan Drake and husband, Paul, Pinetops; Pamela Morgan Lancaster and husband, Chester, Macclesfield; special friend, Larry “Dusty” Rhodes, Cape Carteret; grandchildren, Lee Grimsley, Kristen Grimsley Lancaster and husband, Brett, Katherine Drake Stowe and husband, Sadler, Matthew Drake and wife, Kaitlin, Morgan Drake, Brooks Parisher, Michael Parisher and David Parisher; and great-grandchildren, Scarlett and Olive Lancaster; as well as her Red Hat friends, poker friends and many other friends and family members.
