TIGERVILLE, S.C. — The Barton College women’s lacrosse team stepped outside the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas for the first time in its initial season Friday and responded with its most competitive performance at a neutral site, North Greenville University’s Pepsi Stadium.
Still, the Lady Bulldogs were denied their first victory in six tries as the University of Montevallo prevailed 15-5.
Barton claimed a precedent as freshman Alyssa Torres scored three of the goals, becoming the first Lady Bulldog to tally more than one goal in a match. Torres entered the match with one goal.
Kianna Jimenez and Courtney White accounted for the other Barton goals. The five goals were also a season high.
Sophomore Jami Hudak produced five goals for the Lady Falcons, who led 10-1 at halftime.
The Lady Bulldogs are back on the road Sunday for a 2 p.m. conference test against Lees-McRae at Banner Elk.
