ELON COLLEGE — The Barton College women’s tennis team anticipated a rugged assignment and received as much in falling 7-0 to host Elon University of the NCAA Divisison I ranks on Thursday.

The Lady Bulldogs claimed just three games in singles competition and managed just three games in the three doubles matches.

Barton freshman Marissa Stevenson, at No. 2, dropped a 6-1, 6-1 decision. The most competitive doubles performance belonged to the No. 1 tandem of Stevenson-Daria Avram in a 6-2 loss.

The Lady Bulldogs of the Div. II Conference Carolinas exited with a 5-7 record. Completing a five-match homestand, the Phoenix improved to 13-6.
