Seniors at Fike High School have a celebration to kick off the new school year.
Forest Hills Middle School English class held “I can’t” funerals with sixth-graders this week. They wore black and put on hats with veils and played, “It’s so hard to say goodbye to yesterday” by Boys 2 Men. “The students wrote down what they felt like they couldn’t do, and we held hands while the music played and ‘buried’ their I can’ts,” said Tondia Best, left, pictured with Melissa Hensley. Best and Hensley gave the eulogy and told the students their “I can’t” was survived by brother and sister “I can” and “I will.” “Now they aren’t able to say ‘I can’t’ in class anymore,” Best said.
