ROCKY MOUNT — Utlizing the literal definition of balanced scoring, the Southern Nash varsity boys basketball team had four players finish with 12 points apiece Friday night in gaining a 67-57 conquest of Nash Central.
The 3-A Big East Conference Firebirds (2-1), who led by as many as 19 points in the second half, picked up 12-point showings from senior Darius Edmundson, senior Artavius Allen, sophomore Chason Royal and senior Armando Dellavalle.
Junior Michael Parker had eight points.
Nash Central, the Firebirds’ former Big East rival now affiliated with the 2-A Eastern Plains Conference, dipped to 0-2.
The Firebirds are at Smithfield-Selma on Tuesday.

3-point barrage decks Chargers
The Wilson Christian varsity boys basketball team fell victim to a proficient shooting display behind the 3-point line Friday night as the visiting New Life Storm left the Chargers still seeking their first win following a 54-29 decision.
Wilson Christian, which trailed 26-13 at the half, trailed 40-18 after three quarters as the Chargers were bludgeoned for seven 3-pointers.
Senior Zach Hunter led Wilson Christian with 10 points. Three players finished in double figures for the Storm (4-2), a homeschool program from the Raleigh area.
“In the end the New Life Storm 3-point attack was too much for us to keep it closer,” Wilson Christian head coach Kevin Zander said. “Our boys continue to work hard and improve each game.”
WCA is the guest of Halifax Academy on Monday.

Pittman paces Knights by New Life
Junior Trey Pittman had the hot hand for the Greenfield varsity boys basketball team, which vaulted to 6-1 on the season Friday with an 84-60 victory at home over New Life Christian of Fayetteville.
Pittman had a season-high 27 points while Jordan Lynch came up with 20 points and four assists for the Knights, who also got 12 points from junior Creighton Lebo.
The Monarchs dropped to 3-7.

Frigid WCA loses 2nd straight
A horrific shooting night sent the Wilson Christian varsity girls basketball team to its second straight loss as the Lady Chargers fell 49-28 at home to New Life Storm, a homeschool team from Raleigh.
Wilson Christian, which opened the season with five straight wins, made just 11 of 42 shot attempts from the field (26.2 percent) and were outscored in each quarter.
McKenna Griffin paced the Lady Chargers with 10 points while senior classmate Christy Jones yanked down 19 rebounds to go with five points. Brittany Stone’s 15 points led New Life.
The Lady Chargers will host Halifax Academy on Monday.
