Watson posts first ace in recent WCC round
Wilson Country Club golfer Don Watson, playing his home course, carded his first career hole-in-one during a round Wednesday afternoon.
The ace came on the 176-yard, par-3, No. 6 layout.
Hitting an 18-degree hybrid club, Watson played his “go-to” shot, a slight fade. The golf ball landed some 25 feet from the flag, released and rolled into the cup.
Witnessing the gem were playing partners Kelly Proctor, Kevin Payne and Dave Lohr.
Popowitch celebrates first career hole-in-one
At age 69 and after several decades on countless golf courses, Wilson’s Milo Popowitch celebrated his first career hole-in-one during a recent round at Wedgewood Public Golf Course.
Observers suggested Popowitch grew several inches to about 6-feet tall when he aced Wedgewood’s par-3, 98-yard, No. 10 layout.
With carry over water necessary, Popowitch hit a 9-iron for his “perfect shot” that was attested by playing partners Craig Moss, John Varnell and Doug Barnes.
