Advent concert series begins Wednesday

First Christian Church of Wilson, 207 Tarboro St. N., will feature music of the Christmas season during its ninth annual Advent concert series, “A Space for Grace.”

The series begins Wednesday, Dec. 6 with guest pianist Johnny Sullivan, who has been in ministry for more than 25 years, serving as music director and youth, associate and senior pastor.

Sullivan is a graduate of Hunt High School, the University of Mount Olive and Barton College. He currently serves as pastor of Rains Crossroads Church in Kenly. He is chairman of the Hope Station’s board of directors and board chairman for the Free Will Baptist Children’s Home in Middlesex.

Sullivan is secretary for the Central Conference of Original Free Will Baptists’ Board of Ordination, is vice president of the Free Will Baptist Ministers Association and is a writer of Sunday school curriculum for the FWB Press.

He and his wife, Dana, have been married for more than 27 years. They are the parents of Matthew, 25, and Morgan, 21.

The Advent concert series continues Dec. 13 with soprano Shelley Maddox accompanied by Casey Childers on piano and Dec. 20 with soprano Elizabeth Winstead and pianist Dexter Ruffin.

All concerts in the series are free and open to the public.
