ZEBULON — Jake Adams singled four times as the Fayetteville Woodpeckers defeated the Carolina Mudcats 6-1 on Monday.

Bryan De La Cruz doubled and singled with two runs for Fayetteville.

Carolina cut the deficit to 2-1 in the fourth after Joantgel Segovia hit a solo home run.

Fayetteville answered in the top of the next frame when Seth Beer hit a two-run home run.

The Woodpeckers later tacked on a run in both the sixth and seventh innings. In the sixth, Colton Shaver scored on a single before he drew a walk to score De La Cruz in the seventh.

Leovanny Rodriguez (1-0) got the win with 1 1/3 innings of scoreless, two-hit relief while Carolina starter Bowden Francis (1-1) took the loss in the Carolina League game.

Segovia homered and singled for the Mudcats.
