Two teams and one individual player from the Wilson-based 264 Futsal Club are set to compete in the U.S. Youth Futsal National Championships, starting Friday in Kansas City, Missouri.

Both teams, the girls U14 and U17 squads, are still seeking community support for travel and lodging costs as they represent Wilson on the national stage. For more information or to donate, contact club managers Joy Mosley (U17) at 252-299-3453 or Robin Bunn (U14) at 252-230-7749.

The teams qualified for the national tournament at the U.S. Youth Futsal South Atlantic Regional Championships in Charlotte last month. Both teams finished second in their division at the regional tournament of the fast-growing 5-on-5 version of indoor soccer.

Additionally, Aspen Evans, the goalkeeper on the 264 Futsal U10 team that didn’t qualify, was invited to be a guest player for the Charlotte Independence Soccer Club team that will compete at nationals.
