Wilson police detectives arrested 57-year-old Jimmie Ray Turner of Kenly and 30-year-old Ashley Nichole Harrell of Stantonsburg in the shooting death of Evard Earl Artis.
Turner and Harrell are each charged with first-degree murder and robbery with a dangerous weapon, police said.
Both are being held without bond at the Wilson County Detention Center, according to Capt. Kendra Howell.
Howell said the investigation is still ongoing.
Police responded to a 1:30 a.m. Monday shots-fired at 411 Stadium St. Officers found Artis lying in the front yard of his home suffering from a gunshot wound, officials say.
