Wilson authorities are investigating a suspicious Monday morning house fire that left one person injured.

Wilson Fire/Rescue Deputy Chief Jim Campbell said crews responded just before noon to a report of a structure fire with the possibility a resident was inside the home on the 100 block of Narrow Way.

“On arrival, crews found smoke and fire coming from the back of the structure,” according to fire reports. “Fire attack and search/rescue crews, with the assistance of the Wilson Police Department, located and removed the subject out of the residence.”

Wilson County EMS brought the person to Wilson Medical Center for treatment. Authorities did not disclose the person’s condition.

After the blaze was extinguished, police and fire authorities worked together to investigate the fire. Officials determined the fire to be arson, but the case still is under investigation. No one else was injured, and the American Red Cross responded to assist the resident.
